Hope’s Source

Hard times come, and people implode

But the love of God will sustain,

Like sinking sands, faith can erode

But the sun will outshine the rain.

Fear and doubt, spout terrible woes

Though peace is a reachable fact,

Crumbling dreams, from deep darkness flow

But hope is the truth we transact.

For the strains of this life may thicken

Though wisdom will chart a new course,

The weight of need causes friction

But grace is the crux of hope’s source.

For a trip to the cross is met

With waves of His merciful mist,

Dismissing our faults ad our debt

By the Son of God, we’ve been kissed.

“Through My Weakness”

A mind over-come with poisonous thoughts

And a heart overwhelmed with life’s troubles,

Slandering voices, defining my faults

As I’m wading alone through doubt’s puddles.

Around every turn, addiction transcends

All the boundaries and restrictions I’ve placed,

A cancer destroying, closest of friends

My destruction a reluctant embrace.

I’m pleading for help, as tears blur my eyes

A soul sapped, of rectitude and being,

Surrendering all, my frivolous tries

As my pride and resistance lie bleeding.

In an instant of time, hope fills my soul

A new strength is beginning to flourish,

Life surely shattered, now rendered as whole

Through my weakness, God’s given me courage.

For in Christ alone, my demons must flee

Every tight shackle of sin must dissolve,

Residence in Heaven, my destiny

Culpability of sin now absolved.
